ONE of the first things many of us do when we wake up in the morning is flick on our phones, scrolling through Facebook and checking news sites for the latest top stories.

We listen to the radio on the way to work, check our phones again and again during the day, flick open the newspaper and tune into the television at night.

Media surrounds us now and at the tap of a button we can access top stories.

Many news sites cover the big topics from around Australia and the world, but at the Warwick Daily News we focus on the local faces, businesses and issues that affect our lives right here.

It's important to know what's going on in the world, but we also want to know about what's going on with the people we know and respect around town.

We reporters at the Daily News get up in the morning to hunt down these stories and shine a spotlight on the topics that matter to our town.

We want to keep doing this for years to come, to make sure Warwick isn't over-shadowed by big cities and show that our stories will always matter.

Yesterday the Daily News took a big step towards ensuring this future by switching to a Premium model for our website.

We're now locking certain stories for subscribers only, but also offering some content free.

We're not doing this to block people out, we're doing it to welcome more readers into our community of people who care about news as much as we do, and show our news is worth reading.

So come along on the journey with us and we'll continue to bring hard-hitting news to you.
