National polocrosse in the west in October and it's wet

IT might be dusty at polocrosse games in Queensland and New South Wales but don't expect too much dust around WA.

THE Swan Valley National Polocrosse Championships in Perth on October 1-7 will be played at the Brigadoon Equestrian Centre on perfect fields.

While a few players from the eastern states will stay at home due to the drought, there is no drought in the west.

Western Australian officials have stated that this winter is the best since the 1970s.

So there is obviously some feed available in the west if the transport costs can be afforded.

The venue for the next nationals in 2020 is set to be Ballarat in Victoria, the venue the last time it was Victoria's turn.

Warwick driver

BUSINESSMAN Bruce Bunch is one of up to 20 Warwick drivers heading to the Leyburn Sprints this weekend.

Bruce often wins his class in a Mini at Leyburn but this weekend will be driving a Holden HQ sedan. Bruce and wife Linda have two HQs and one will be driven by their brother-in-law Don Harris.

They also compete in the four rounds of the Queensland Super Sprints at Morgan Park each year.

The Mini does faster laps than the HQ on the tight street circuit at Leyburn.

We want rain desperately but it is good to see a dry weekend for Leyburn and the superbikes.
