Key couple praised for World Cup success

THE World Cup in polocrosse is a day away from being finished and no one could argue it hasn't been an outstanding success.

It was a team effort butled brilliantly by Les and Robyn Fraser.

Even the gas man yesterday morning was high in praise of the leadership of Les in bringing the World Cup to Warwick.

Due to the number of horses required, it appears Australia, South Africa and perhaps the United Kingdom are the only countries with the ability to get together 150 class horses for a week of games.

That means there is a chance the cup could be back in Warwick in 8-12 years.

Les told me this week about the importance of the cup being played in as many countries as possible.

Autumn racing

BY the end of this weekend, the polocrosse will be finished and the rain will hopefully come bucketing down.

Then the town can gear up for the Autumn Historic Warwick motor racing meeting on May 4-5 and the Ergon Energy Warwick Picnic Races on May 11.

Drag racing

WILLOWBANK Raceway and Warwick Dragway will play host to Drag Challenge Weekend on May 4-5.

Street Machine Challenge is the toughest street car event on the Australian drag racing calendar and the three-day version returns to Queensland next weekend.

More than 100 cars from throughout Australia will compete.

While most of entrants will come from Queensland, there are drivers from all eastern states and South Australia.
