It's been a hell of a journey

WARWICK gave me a chance, and I'll be forever grateful.

I DON'T normally consider myself lost for words but piecing this together left me struggling.

Switching from the big smoke in Sydney to Warwick last June was never in my plans but the best things in life never follow the script.

The only time I had heard of Warwick before last year was when watching the horse races, and to have been able to have worked closely at Allman Park throughout my time has been something I have loved.

The word hogget left me scratching my head, yet here I found myself in the yard at the pig and calf sale on my third day.

The Warwick Daily News gave me an opportunity to start my career, and for that I will be forever grateful. It is here I have made some great friends and met a lot of incredible people.

I have learnt there is more to putting together a newspaper than just punching out a bunch of words and there is no such thing as an early finish.

Along the way I have had the chance to speak to people with some of the most incredible stories, and resilience beyond belief.

While my time has been relatively short in the scheme of things, the experiences are one that will stay with me. The tight-knit community spirit is something I will miss, as well as the generosity of the common person walking down the street.

I look forward to the next stage of my journalistic career but Warwick will stay with me for the rest of my life.

All that's left for me to say is thank you. Thank you for welcoming me and thank you for making Warwick feel like home.
