Forget the excuses, all grand finals should be at stadium

TOO bad about the negotiations, just work it out to have all TRL grand finals at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

WHILE hosting the finals in the Toowoomba Rugby League competition has been a boost to the Brothers club, one hopes the big games will return to Clive Berghofer Stadium next season.

I watched my first rugby league when my cousin Denis Garvey was playing for Newtown and Toowoomba at the old Toowoomba Athletic Oval.

Until this season, the big games have been at the oval, now known as Clive Berghofer Stadium.

I once said at a meeting that all arguments are about land, love and money and this one certainly has been over money.

I haven't been party to the discussion but surely someone could have done a ScoMo like our new PM and come up with a solution.

The stadium is where Toowoomba beat the Englishmen, the ground where an NRL game was played this season.

Wattles has won four premierships in A grade at the stadium and Warwick two.

The reality is the real losers are the players who don't get a chance to play at the top stadium and the fans who aren't getting quite as good a view of the game, especially the older fans.

I gather things might be better next season but no excuses for the lack of finals footy at a stadium which has fond memories for me and fans galore.
