Morgan Park Raceway will be bustling with activity this weekend as a number of riders compete in major championships.
Among those competing is Darling Downs local 13-year-old Hunter Corney, who is currently sitting in top spot in the bLU CRU Oceania Junior Cup on 143 points.
Proud father and lifelong motosports fan Jason Corney said Hunter performed well in the first practice run of the weekend, placing fourth on Friday morning.
“He’s feeling good, comfortable and confident (about the weekend),” Mr Corney said.
“He has another two practice runs this afternoon, we’re focusing on trying to get his speed up into the 40s.”
The coming weekend will be the third Oceania Junior Cup for Hunter, who could head into the Supersport 300 championship.
In 2023 Hunter raced in the FIM MiniGP championship, missing out on the chance to head to Spain by just two points.
Mr Corney said Hunter is currently sitting seventh in his class for the MiniGP championship.
It comes as no surprise the rising junior motosport star has plans to make racing a career.
Hunter will race over both days at the weekend, with Sunday the big day for motosports as the Alpinestars Australia Superbikes hit the racetrack.
Event information for this weekend can be found on the Morgan Park Raceway Facebook page.
