A “community” gym that offers over-50s group classes has been voted by readers as the Sunshine Coast’s best gym.

More than 500 votes have been tallied in the Sunshine Coast Daily’s search for the region’s best gym, with Wattfit in Little Mountain coming out on top.

Wattfit received 33 per cent of the votes, closely followed by BFT Caloundra with 27 per cent.

Wattfit owner Jacob Watson, 27, known by members and friends as “Watto”, said he was grateful for the support for his gym.

BFT Caloundra owners Jak Hancock and his wife Mirinda O’Gorman said it was “amazing” to come second.

“It’s a real testament to our community and how supportive they are and how inclusive they are,” Mr Hancock said.

He said he mentioned the competition to his members and they rallied together to support the gym.

Mr Hancock and Ms O’Gorman previously managed a BFT in Melbourne but made the move to the Sunshine Coast to open at Caloundra after Covid-19.

“We just want to make sure whenever anyone steps into our gym, that’s the best experience they have for that day, and that’s what drives us in all our decision-making and everything we do,” Mr Hancock said.

Other gyms to be named in the top five include Body Rock Female Transformation in third place and F45 Training Sippy Downs in fourth.

Jetts Bli Bli, Strong Pilates Maroochydore and O2 Performance tied in fifth place.
