Surf watch around the Sunshine Coast
All eyes are on the waves as surfers hang out for the big swell due to arrive off the back of Cyclone Winston. Here's what things look like around the Coast today.
1/5Kawana 1:30pm. The Kawana stretch has some great waves in the 3-5ft range, the winds are light onshore from the south east, however the waves are holding up ok. There is a lot of water moving around out there and would suit experienced surfers. Picture: Che Chapman
2/5Maroochydore Beach 12 noon, the onshore winds and outgoing tide have transformed the pristine morning conditions into very average 3-4ft waves, with strong rips along the stretch. Picture: Che Chapman
3/5Alexandra Headlands, 12:30pm. Smaller waves getting in at Alex in the 2-3ft range, south east winds mean conditions are still quite nice, a decent option for beginners. Picture: Che Chapman
4/5Mooloolaba Beach 1pm. Very clean conditions with 1-3ft waves dumping along the beach, Mooloolaba offers the best protection from the wind and swell. Picture: Che Chapman
5/5Kawana 1:30pm. The Kawana stretch has some great waves in the 3-5ft range, the winds are light onshore from the south east, however the waves are holding up ok. There is a lot of water moving around out there and would suit experienced surfers. Picture: Che Chapman
