A local family with two businesses of their own is launching the Sunshine Coast’s first ever co-working space designed specifically for parents – fully equipped with a shared working space, a staffed kids room, a podcast recording room, and more.
Sara and Tim Reyes are launching Nook next month – offering Sunshine Coast parents a chance to work from a shared office while having their children on site.
Mrs Reyes runs a successful PA business and her husband runs Luxe Electrical.
Sara Reyes, 32, of Buderim, said they came up with the idea because they both needed space for their businesses that wasn’t at home with their young children.
“At times I’ve found it really hard to be productive while working from home with two young kids,” Mrs Reyes said.
Nook Collective, coworking for parents, was designed for parents.
With a staffed kids room on-site, locals can work, meet clients, shoot content, record podcasts and pursue professional goals with peace of mind and no distractions.
Parents will be able to work upstairs after having dropped their children off the kids room.
For the opening it will be a babysitting service with a morning and afternoon session, taking 10 children at a time, with two staff members.
Mrs Reyes said as numbers increase more staff will be brought on.
“There’s also a podcast recording room, meeting rooms, content creation spaces, open desk spaces for up to 24 people at a time upstairs, and an event space,” she said.
“It’s going to be a one-stop shop for local businesses.
“We’ve had a lot of support with locals already which has been amazing.”
The fit out is still a construction site and work in progress, with the official opening date set for Monday, October 7.
“We’re also having a launch part on Saturday, October 5,” Mrs Reyes said.
“It’s been a quick turnaround but we’re really excited.
“There aren’t any other parent friendly co working spaces on the coast so it’s exciting for the community. We’ve already got 45 people on our waiting list for when we open.”
The business is on Wises Rd, Maroochydore.
Locals can join the waiting list here.
