A Sunshine Coast hinterland hideaway is soaring up the national rankings of Airbnb’s most sought-after getaways despite the pandemic.

A Doonan “kit barn” has rocketed up the charts as one of the nation’s most sought-after unique holiday destinations and a growing hotspot for wedding photos.
Doonan’s Little Red Barn landed in fourth place on the list of Australia’s most wishlisted unique properties on Airbnb.
Unique home searches were up by 94 per cent from March, 2020 to April, 2021, while farm stay searches had jumped 66 per cent in January-March, 2021, compared to October-December, 2020.
Little Red Barn was the brainchild of Sydneysiders Rachel Luchetti and her husband Gerard Cook.
The pair bought the property about five years ago and moved to Doonan to renovate it.
Ms Luchetti recalled the stress of revamping the barn with a newborn child and no kitchen and said the effort had paid off.
“We don’t charge ridiculous amounts,” Ms Luchetti said.
“It’s affordable.”
She said they worked on a base rate for a couple, but the barn was also suited to families.
“We set out to make it something we would enjoy,” Ms Luchetti, a renowned interior designer, said.
Property manager Melanie Fairbairn said the barn, which could host seven guests at a time, attracted a variety of users due to its many features which included a fireplace, cast iron veranda bathtub and heated concrete pool.
Ms Fairbairn said it was proving extremely popular with wedding parties who used the stunning property for photo shoots.
“Generally outside Covid-19 Little Red Barn is pretty much booked all the time,” she said.
Ms Fairbairn said the property was usually booked up 4-6 months in advance.
