Ex-employees of the collapsed award-winning health clinic, Sunny Street, are among a number of creditors waiting on dividend payments as the former directors face possible legal action.
Sunny Street Maroochydore Pty Ltd was established as a health service for vulnerable people and those experiencing homelessness on the Sunshine Coast.
The directors, Nova Evans and Sonia Martin first opened the doors of Sunny Street to patients in 2018, with the business receiving a Sunshine Coast Business Award in 2022.
However, the clinic has since shut down and liquidator at Worrels, Paul Nogueira, was appointed to the company on June 1 last year.
In total, it is estimated the company owes creditors $532,446, according to Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents.
Among the largest debts owed by the clinic is an Australian Taxation Office debt estimated to be $252,407 as well as debt to Dimmick Nominees Pty Ltd totalling $104,620.
Mr Nogueira published his latest update to creditors on March 7, inviting them to a creditors meeting on March 27.
Mr Nogueira said Dr Evans and Ms Martin had not responded to his demands for the payment of two outstanding loans from the company, which are claimed to be $322,377 and $178,870 respectively.
“I have had to engage a lawyer to pursue the director loan accounts as the directors have not responded to the demands issued seeking payment of the same,” Mr Nogueira said.
“At the time of this report, I am yet to receive a proposal from either director concerning payment of their respective loan account.
“Once the transition to a creditors voluntary liquidation has been completed, I will be looking to issue instructions to my lawyer to commence proceedings against both directors for the recovery of the outstanding loan accounts.”
Mr Nogueira said he believed during the liquidation it had been revealed the company had become insolvent.
Co-director Ms Martin previously told this publication the closure of Sunny Street was due to the service being unable to secure funding.
Ms Martin has been contacted for further comment.
