QAFL colts footy: X-factor players of 2025 revealed here as Noosa, Sherwood, PBC, Aspley, Morningside and Coorparoo consolidated places in the top six positions on the premiership ladder.

Noosa has retained its table topping form while Sherwood consolidated its place in the top two after round eight.
Aspley were also on the rise, while PBC held down fourth position on percentage just ahead of Morningside, with new chums tucked nicely into the top six.

ROUND EIGHT
Sherwood’s Jack Slater booted six goals in his team’s impressive 58 point win over Morningside, with the Magpies delivering 6-3 to the scoreboard in the final term, while Noosa (13-9) had to fight hard against a spirited Mt Gravatt (2-6).
Aspley’s Harry Nelson, Harry Grills and Brock O’Sullivan eached kicked three goals in the Hornets 13-9 to 3-4 win over Labrador.
Coorparoo (10-9-69) went the distance against a committed Demons (4-7-31) while there was another gripping match when Wilston Grange, 8-12, downed Maroochydore 5-7.
The biggest roar from a dressing room came from the Redland-Victoria Point boys who kicked 11-7-75 against Broadbeach 3-8-26.
Charlie Moreton McDougall kicked four goals for the winners, while Lucas Andersen and Max Boultbee also found a couple of majors each.
Helping teams along on their merry way this season were the x-factor players, players who can spark a side with a special play when it is needed most.

Riley King (Mt Gravatt)
King is a forward who loves a big grab. He is someone who can score a goal from anywhere on the field.
Luke Costa (Mt Gravatt)
A midfielder or small forward, Costa can find a pass where no one else can. He dominated the U17s last year and looks like he’s about to explode in the colts now the he is getting more midfield time.
Cooper Short (Morningside)
A small forward or mid field ace, Short is the type of player who has the potential to make-or-break a game.
Ollie Logan (Morningside)
An under age player in the colts competition, the 2024 U15 Panthers’ captain has already grabbed some big moments in his first few games of colts at Morningside. He’s a real ripper of a young talent.
Cameron Plackett (Wilston Grange)
A highly talented Padua College old boy who made this publication’s 2024 AIC First XI cricket Team of the Season as an allrounder, Plackett can swing a footy match as well.
Quick for his height, the former Redcliffe surf club nipper is creative both forward or back on the footy field.
Archie Shannon (Noosa)
Shannon is a standout every week and as a result always receives a reaction from his teammates whenever his hands are on the footy. His ability to move the ball in transition is always positive for the team.
Beau Williams (Maroochydore)
A talented ruckman, Williams can also play as a key forward and never looks out of place.
He loves taking big, strong marks and can kick goals from a long way out. Now that’s an x-factor player if ever there was one.
Cooper Pell (Redland-Victoria Point)
Strong with his marks and hard to tackle, Pell is the type of player who impacts the game in every contest. He is a fine full forward
Jake Pendlebury (Redland-Victoria Point)
A left foot utility, Pendlebury has those silky touches which are hard to coach. Aside from his natural skills, he is always hard over the footy
Lucas Anderson (Redland-Victoria Point)
Anderson’s point of difference is his speed. He is lightning quick and a genuine goal sneak who has a good mark for smaller sizer player.
Ethan Duke (Sherwood)
Described by his coach Damian Haber as a “fine young man’’, Duke was developing physically and mentally which helps him bring the best out in his rare skills.
“Players with x-factor can give you something that cannot be coached or trained, it is instinctive and raw talent,’’ praised coach Haber.
“It’s players like these who do something special when the team needs it and Ethan Duke is one of these players.
“He contests well and wins the footy leveraging his strength which he’s worked hard on but also finds a way to win most one on one’s with elite finishing skills, not to mention a hanger every now and then to inspire his teammates. Most importantly though, is he remains humble
Troydon Ross (Sherwood)
Agile, quick and at over 190cm in height, Ross has a terrific vertical leap and can take marks which makes him difficult to defend.
“He is a wonderful young man with an inspiring story and continues to do things on and off the field that only few could imagine,’’ said Sherwood coach Haber.
“Troydon is a great example of courage and authenticity that has found a way to remain connected to his heritage while experiencing and fulfilling a passion for footy always with a very big warm smile.
“His teammates continue to watch in awe the way he goes about it, and even enjoy his cheeky backflip as a post goal celebration.’’
Ryan Davis (Palm Beach Currumbin)
Davis moved from defence to attack this year and his presence in the forward line has proven to be a game-changer. Davis is one of the leading goal kickers in the competition.
Jai Leach (Palm Beach Currumbin)
Another x-factor player at the club is Leach, a versatile weapon who is a hard match up for any opponents. He has this knack of producing key goals when needed.
Andre Astras (Surfers Paradise)
Astras had a difficult start to the season, not taking to the field until round five due to injury, but hasn’t he made up for lost time.
His strong presence has had a major impact on matches.
When he is on song, Astras is a very difficult player to curtail in the league.
Mason Young (Broadbeach)
Young is an explosive talent who is a must watch player due to the fact you never know what he is capable of doing on any given day. Young can make his impact felt with his impressive ability to find ways to win the ball on his own. He also has the ability to be a part of a cohesive unit.
Jimi Bell (Labrador)
An electric half forward, Bell is the energiser bunny for his side. When Bell is on, he can break the game open with multiple goals.
Harri Armstrong (Coorparoo)
A forward or ruck, Armstrong is a freakish talent because he can play almost every position. Irish born, he is a cross code athlete that brings unconventional ideas for the code from rugby union and league where he has played at the top club level.
His speed, agility and power make him impossible to shut down. When in full flight he is a cut above everyone on the ground.
Xavier Salvana (Coorparoo)
A young squad member, he has already made an impressive impact around the group.
From the very start of pre-season training, Salvana’s involvement has been exceptional.
He seamlessly balanced his commitments with the Brisbane Lions Academy, U15’s Div 1 training, and never missing a beat when he was back at the club.
Salvana is a rare x-factor talent with his ability to win the ball in the contest and create opportunities out of nowhere. He’s definitely one to keep an eye on for the years ahead.
