Brisbane-based racing trainer Chris Anderson has revealed his stable’s top prospects for the summer carnival ahead of the 2023 Magic Millions.
Anderson, who completed a season goal in 2021/22 finishing in the top 10 of the metropolitan rankings, has continued his hot form in the opening five months of the 22/23 season.
Anderson currently sits in fifth position on the Sunshine Coast trainers’ leaderboard and holds a strike rate of 22.2 and 51.8 per cent from 27 starts.
“We’re really happy as a stable and ultimately want to train more winners than what we trained last year,” he said.
“We only measure our success against ourselves instead of anyone else so once again we want to finish in the top 10 for the metropolitan rankings.
“The competition sense has increased as a result of more southern trainers establishing satellite stables but competition is great, it’s healthy and keeps your eye on the ball which we welcome.”

He said Larrikin Rouge, who produced a highly impressive debut victory at the Sunshine Coast on July 17, was an exciting future prospect with two wins and one placing from four starts.
“He got found in a spot last start where he had never been in the past which kind of caught him with his pants down when the sprint went on,” he said.
“But we thought he had done everything his first prep to show us very, very good ability and that he would improve on the back of a break so we have decided to tip him out for six weeks and will be a horse focused on the winter carnival.”
Anderson said youngsters Lady Austen and Very Intoxicating were also solid improving runners.
“Very Intoxicating had five starts last preparation, with a lot of them at the Sunshine Coast, winning three and running second twice so she’s a horse we’re hopefully looking at getting into the Magic Millions,” he said.
“She looks a really progressive mare and looks to have a good race in her somewhere along the line.
“It’s a tough time of year with the summer carnival being so strong in Queensland but will look to progress Lady Austen to midweek metropolitan grade and then hopefully Saturday grade down the track.”
