Chris Anderson names impressive gelding Larrikin Rogue as one to watch

Brisbane based racing trainer Chris Anderson is looking to further his impressive Sunshine Coast track record, outlining his key chances following a stunning debut victory.

Brisbane-based racing trainer Chris Anderson is planning another Sunshine Coast swoop following a highly impressive debut victory from Larrikin Rogue on July 17.

Anderson, who has stormed into the top 10 on the Metropolitan trainers leaderboard this season, said his stable’s two-year-old gelding would be one to keep an eye on.

“The start had me in all sorts but he and Steph (Thornton) were absolutely unbelievable and hopefully he’s one we can see back at the Sunshine Coast soon,” he said.

“He looks a real talent and definitely a horse that’s going places.”

Anderson will look to field four nominated runners on Sunday, July 24 at Corbould Park.

“Starry Eyes is a big horse and will probably need the experience from the day out,” he said.

“He’s going to be horse that we think will really get out to the mile and I guess we’d just like to see him get into the line in good order but if he can do that and stand up to them he should hopefully be very hard to beat when second up.

Three-year-old filly Out Back Boom is coming off a maiden victory at Eagle Farm and a recent third place finish on July 10 on the Sunshine Coast all-weather poly track.

“She’s a progressive filly that is doing all of this in her first prep and we’re still trying to see if the mile is where she’d want to be,” he said.

“They probably sprinted a bit too well for her on the poly track the other day but back on the turf I think that will give us the right guide and it’s a QTIS race so if we can’t try and run top three to earn a bit of extra money for our owners that’d be job done.”

Anderson currently sits in eighth position on the Sunshine Coast trainers’ leaderboard and holds a strike rate of 19 and 47.6 per cent from 63 starts.

“I love the track and it’s a terrific facility so it’s one of my favourites in Queensland as it would be there and Eagle Farm as my preferred tracks and I’d race horses on them every day of the week if I could,” he said.
