Should COVID rule breakers be charged with manslaughter?

I would like to see involuntary manslaughter become the penalty for those who disobey the laws during this pandemic, if it can be proved they are responsible for not abiding to the health and safety rules where it results in the death of a person.

Different views

Regarding Bob Buick's letter in the Daily on July 29.

One doesn't know whether to express pity or compassion for Mr Buick because he holds a chaotic mix of social/political beliefs which do not make sense or are relevant for the modern world.

He bullies to make his points which add up to nought but personal assassination.

He bullies because he doesn't understand the complexity of issues in the world today and because issues have moved on from his hey day.

He would be better served to engage with the issues rather than pursue a spurious quest to demean me and my endeavours.

But this is the character of the man, flakiness not substance.

Understand history of party

Regarding Michael Henderson's letter in the Daily on July 29.

I have been on the Coast for more than 20 years, and I remember the state MP that was a Labor bloke who only did one term, I think he was a member of the plumbers union.

He was involved with Queensland Health and updating of the IBM departmental computer system that caused massive wage and salary discrepancies.

It is still shaking the department's foundation because I do not believe the problem is resolved yet, and that was about 15 years ago.

The point I am making is Mr Henderson is probably the only socialist supporter who attacks a politician and attempts to belittle them.

Consequently, he fails to make any difference because Australians reject arguments that attack individuals.

For some years Mr Henderson has continually followed this path by singling out a lone target. He never attacks the party or policies.

Being a sniper does not endear him because like elected members of Labor, all politicians are required to follow the party line and discipline as detailed by the king and queen makers leadership, and he knows this.

I had been Liberal/National voter since 1961 but no longer.

It is my position the federal Liberal parliamentarian accepted Turnbull's assassination of Tony Abbott in 2015 when Turnbull killed off a first-term Prime Minister.

Five years on, I am still in that space.

I will not endorse, nor support, any political party that trashes my values and standards.

I have never voted Labor because I reject socialism completely, primarily because of what the ALP and unions have done in my lifetime by not supporting our service members when involved in wars.

During the Vietnam War, the ALP and its supporters supported the enemy, sending money and goods to Hanoi.

At the same time, maritime unions refused to load or crew the ships supplying us in Vietnam.

Even the postal unions banned handling personal mail to and from the soldiers in Vietnam.

The maritime unions imposed similar bans during WWII and the Korean wars.

I ask, "How can anyone support Labor and the socialist movement when they orchestrate actions that do not support those in the nation's military uniforms"?

Those who are socialist and supporters of the ALP do not know, nor understand, the short history of their beloved party.

Those who follow politics as a hobby know that today's socialist party will fly the same red flag when next in government in Canberra.
