Salty breezes, sandy feet

Wake to the sound of the surf at architect-designed home in gated beachfront community

MANY things in life will catch your eye, but only a few will capture your heart. Such is the impact of a classic beach house, just 100 metres to that sensational sand-between-the-toes feeling.

Beach Houses is an enclave of 10, where the wildlife and natural vegetation along the Sunshine Beach foreshore have been preserved. Nestled into the site, overlooking the casuarinas and the beach, at the end of a tiny lane with no neighbours on one side, is the star attraction, a three-level Gabriel Poole masterpiece.

It's testimony to his design ethos of architecture that works, meaning it's sympathetic to the climate and environment from a north-east orientation, view maximisation, lofty ceiling heights and open-plan living spaces so breezes flow continuously, to a transparent transition between indoors and out.

All and more are revealed at the front entrance. Angled roof lines, floor-to ceiling picture windows, playful geometric shapes, polished beachy brushbox floors and a clerestory of louvred glass with weather sensors, all thoughtfully designed to enhance the generous volumes of space, protect the outdoor living spaces including the pool on the middle level, yet never detract from the magnificent sweeping Coral Sea views.

The living space, which has a low combustion fireplace, opens onto the sun and covered entertaining decks encasing the pool, and the Bulthaup kitchen, custom-made in Germany has stainless benchtops and timber drawers finished in black, by Zehentner Stummer.

On the lower level ocean-side, are two bedrooms which share a family-size bathroom and deck plus a large family room, which opens out to a partially covered massive deck. It's the perfect zen spot for meditation, yoga or relaxing after a sauna.

The timber boardwalk is the beach access track and it goes past the lawn tennis court.

The upper level is a form and function design triumph. The main bedroom with huge walk-in robe and undercover balcony, is cantilevered over the pool so it provides much-needed shade on hot days. The bathroom features bespoke stainless steel semi-recessed basins. A guest main suite in the southern wing has a balcony.

"Imagine waking to the sounds of the surf," comments Tom Offermann Real Estate agent Cameron Urquhart who's taking the property to auction on Saturday, December 8.

"There's no doubting the amazing investment opportunity for this no-fuss elegant beachside residence in Noosa's current hotspot of Sunshine Beach, where ever-increasing record prices are achieved and the last sale in The Beaches private gated estate was 2012.''
