A SUNSHINE Coast builder has been awarded the contract to build a $70 million project that will deliver 1000 jobs over the next 18 months.

Cube Developments has appointed McNab to build Beach Life Alex, which will deliver 58 high-end apartments, sky homes and penthouses to Alexandra Headland.

McNab construction manager Carl Nancarrow said the team was delighted to secure the project.

Designs are currently being finalised with construction expected to start within the next seven weeks.

"Beach Life Alex will be a truly iconic building and we are very confident that in partnership with the high-calibre team of developer Scott Juniper from Cube Developments and project managers Project Urban, we will deliver a new benchmark for luxury in Alexandra Headland and the greater Sunshine Coast region," Mr Nancarrow said.

"These apartments ― which are already 55 per cent sold ― will offer uninterrupted, never-to-be-built-out views of the ocean to the east and the lake to the west in the heart of the vibrant Alexandra Headland community.

"They really represent the lifestyle we love on the Sunshine Coast."

McNab has committed to use local subcontractors and suppliers wherever possible during the 18-month construction period.

"The project will see over 1000 construction workers contribute to the project over the 18-month build period with a predicted 150 on site at a time at its peak.

"We are very proud to be a part of the Sunshine Coast community and therefore are committed to supporting it on all our jobs.

"Our track record shows we usually achieve around 95 per cent of local trades and suppliers so this build is good news for the Sunshine Coast."

Developer Scott Juniper said a commitment to use Coast subcontractors and suppliers to formed part of the decision-making process in appointing McNab to deliver the signature project.

"We like McNab's philosophy and the fact that over 85 per cent of their work stems from repeat and referral clients gives us a very high level of confidence in their ability to deliver a quality build," Mr Juniper said.

"Beach Life Alex will offer some of the Coast's most luxurious apartments and our priority was to appoint a construction partner that shares our vision for the project and has the capability to execute it.

"We very much look forward to working with Carl and his team and hope this is a start of a strong local partnership going forward."

The 2276sqm Beach Life site overlooks Alexandra Headland beach to the east and Nelson Park to the west. The building's design incorporates a two-story atrium with a lush vertical garden and is split in two to increase natural lighting and ventilation.

"We have had a high level of interest locally and from outside the region, particularly given we are offering three-bedroom apartments with direct ocean views at just under $1 million," Mr Juniper said.

McNab ― which employs over 50 people at its Maroochydore office ― will commence construction of Beach Life Alex as soon as the final design phase has been completed.
