Buddina real estate: Point Cartwright penthouse hits the market

A penthouse in a prime Sunshine Coast location that fetched more than a million dollars when it last changed hands 20 years ago has hit the market.

Rising interest rates will 'push' housing demand

A penthouse that fetched a seven-figure sum 20 years ago has hit the market attracting plenty of interest because of its tightly held location on the Sunshine Coast.

One of the two penthouses at the Cartwright complex at Point Cartwright has hit the market offering an opportunity to own a slice of property at the highest vantage point near the popular Buddina beach.

It is among the tightly held apartments at the complex at 3 Pacific Blvd, Buddina.

Only two sales have taken place in the unit block since 2017.

Ray White Buddina sales agent Ryan Bradeley said sales were a rarity in the complex with many families keeping the properties for generations.

The second penthouse has been owned by one family since 1989.

“My phone’s been running hot all week about it,” Mr Bradeley said.

The property last sold for $1.15m in 2002 and was due to go to auction on August 27, 2022.

It features four bedrooms and three bathrooms across two levels.

There are also six balconies to enjoy views of the coastline and hinterland.

“It’s hard to say what it could sell for given you can’t directly compare it to anything,” Mr Bradeley said.

“It could go for anywhere from $3m to $6m given they are so tightly held.

“Whoever purchases it will likely hold it for just as long if not longer than the current owners.”

It comes as new data showed Buddina had been so far immune to a slight cooling in the market with 28 suburbs recording a drop in median house prices.

It followed a period of mammoth growth in the region fuelled largely by pandemic-driven interstate migration.
