A Sunshine Coast court has been told what is next for social media and YouTube star Sam Eyles’ court matter, as his lawyer reveals why he has recently been using a wheelchair.

Mr Eyles, 29, faces three charges of dangerous operation of a car, two of driving with unrestrained passengers, two of driving or parking a defective car, two of driving without due care and attention, driving with a passenger not wearing an approved or fastened seat belt, not wearing an approved seat belt and breaching bail.

He is best known for his social media presence with his YouTube channel Built Not Bought, which has more than 241,000 subscribers, and his Tik Tok account which has 148,200 followers at the time of publishing.

Mr Eyles drew the attention of police after videos of him allegedly performing repeated burnouts, front wheel stands and a tug of war between the car and a group of men holding a snatch strap in a clown car named Silly Sid were posted online.

Mr Eyles did not appear for his matter in the Maroochydore Magistrates court on February 13, which lawyer Chelsea Emery, who appeared on behalf of Mr Eyles’ legal team, said was due to a doctors appointment which was earlier moved.

“He’s broken both of his heels and he is currently in a wheelchair,” she said.

It was not shared in open court how the injury came about, but Mr Eyles explained the story in an Instagram post shared on February 9.

“If you didn’t see my last story, last weekend I decided I could fly and jumped off a three metre balcony into a paddling pool on concrete,” he wrote.

Ms Emery asked the matter be adjourned for Mr Eyles to obtain police body worn camera footage and a copy of his police interview.

Police prosecutor James Allen said the interview record was sent on February 10.

His matter was adjourned and he will return to court on March 6.
