Teenage boys charged following alleged attempted robbery at Pelican Waters, police chase

Two boys have been charged with more than a dozen offences each following an alleged attempted armed robbery and police chase that stretched from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane.

Two teenage boys have been charged following an allegedly violent attempted armed robbery on the Sunshine Coast which sparked a dangerous police chase through south-east Queensland.

Police allege a Jaguar was travelling along Bledisloe Blvd in Pelican Waters about 6.30am on June 11 when a 59-year-old woman driver was approached by an armed teenage boy.

It’s further alleged the boy demanded her vehicle before the woman escaped with her car keys. She was not injured.

The teenage boy was allegedly unable to start the car and left the scene in a stolen Audi SQ5 which was allegedly stolen from a Gordons Crossing property in Joyner on June 10.

What followed police allege was a dangerous chase of the two teenage boys by officers and POLAIR.

Police allege the boys drove dangerously through parts of Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast before officers lost them.

The Audi was found abandoned along Eliza Street in Clayfield after it crashed into a pole on Alma Road about 2.40am on June 12.

Police allege a gel blaster was found inside the vehicle.

Following investigations a 15-year-old boy was arrested on June 14 and a 17-year-old boy was arrested on June 15.

The 17-year-old Warner boy was charged with four counts of stealing, two counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, two counts of receiving tainted property, two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle and one count each of enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of motor vehicle, stealing of a vehicle and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was also charged with one count each of armed robbery and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in the Maroochydore Childrens Court on July 3.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with four counts of stealing, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence and receiving tainted property.

He was further charged with an additional 12 offences including three counts of receiving tainted property, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle – publish on social media – advertise involvement/act/omission and one count each of robbery armed and stealing.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in the Maroochydore Childrens Court on July 10.
