A woman has been allegedly held hostage and tortured for hours by a Black Mountain man she met on tinder.

Police allege Matthew Keith Brown bound the victim’s wrists, tied her to a couch, made her eat glue, assaulted her for hours, extorted and threatened to kill her if she didn’t confess to a bizarre ploy to get him.

The allegedly twisted details of the 33-year-old’s horror hostage situation were revealed in bail objection documents before Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday when Brown pushed for his release on bail.

Detectives claim in court documents Brown and the woman met on Tinder and had been having an on and off casual fling where they would have sex, drink and take drugs.

On Monday, police allege Brown started to act “funny” by wanting to see the victim’s phone and claimed she tampered with his car.

An argument ensued after Brown saw a message in her phone from another man she knew from Toowoomba, who was a friend of Brown’s former partner.

Police allege Brown concocted the idea his victim, the man she knew from Toowoomba and Brown’s former girlfriend were out to “get” him, which the alleged victim continually denied throughout the ordeal.

What allegedly follows was hours of torture after Brown took her keys, phone and other items before he blocked her car from leaving.

Detectives allege Brown restrained the woman by tying her wrists together behind her back with zip ties and tape.

Brown allegedly peppered the woman with accusations which she denied, until he tried to glue her mouth shut by squeezing glue into her mouth.

She was allegedly slapped and had her hair grabbed by Brown where he demanded a confession.

Police allege she freed herself from the zip ties and tape however she was kept on the coach and forced to stay by the 33-year-old.

In a disturbing twist, another man arrived at the property who allegedly began to egg on Brown by fuelling his paranoia, and “supporting” Brown’s delusions and theories.

Police allege the other man went through the victim’s phone and iPad stating “here is the evidence” after seeing a picture of her standing next to Brown’s vehicle, going towards the theory she tampered with his car.

At one point the woman was allowed to go to the bathroom when Brown allegedly put her knife to her throat and demanded a confession.

Police allege she was restrained again by having her wrists bound to a nearby bed frame. She allegedly pleaded to be let go but Brown refused.

She eventually went to sleep but woke up about 2am on Tuesday when Brown allegedly gave her three options:

  • A. Confess what you did and pay me money
  • B. Tell me the truth and what the plan is
  • C. I take you out bush

Police allege the victim believed “going out bush” meant he would take her out to kill her.

The bail objection stated the victim wanted to do anything to get free so she wrote down a phony confession before Brown allegedly made her send him $1000 from her bank account.

Police allege the incident occurred at Brown’s Black Mountain property.

Brown allegedly let the woman go after he replaced the fuses in her car which he originally took out.

Police allege the victim drove to Cooroy police station before paramedics took her to Nambour Hospital.

Brown was arrested and refused police bail, and applied for his conditional release in court on Thursday.

Duty lawyer Breanna Bowtell told the court during Brown’s bail application the 33-year-old would be heavily contesting the charges.

Ms Bowtell said Brown had also been trying to engage in mental health services and could abide by strict bail conditions.

Police prosecutor Tara Miles said supporting evidence was allegedly found at Brown’s home including items which were used to bind the victim.

Magistrate Rod Madsen said if convicted Brown would serve at least two or three years’ jail, and stated there were no bail conditions to stop Brown offending and refused his bail.

The Black Mountain man’s matters were adjourned to August 16, where he faces seven charges including deprivation of liberty, attempting to injure by noxious substances and extortion.
