A former Australian cricketer on remand for alleged choking and stalking offences has had fresh charges mentioned in court for the first time.

Michael Jonathon Slater’s new charges were mentioned in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on December 6, more than seven months after he was arrested for a slew of domestic violence charges.

It is also a year on from when the alleged offending began in 2023.

He has now been charged with 14 counts of contravening a domestic violence order, five counts of common assault (domestic violence), one of breaching bail, two of driving a vehicle with a drug in his system, one of driving while over the general alcohol limit and one of being in charge of a vehicle while over the general alcohol limit.

The allegations stem from incidents in April but Mr Slater was only charged in November.

No pleas have been entered to any of his charges.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist attempted to call Mr Slater’s lawyer Paul Liddle on Friday who did not answer the phone.

Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said the matter would have to be adjourned in any case to collect material.

Mr Stjernqvist marked the matter down for February 26.

Police previously alleged, in relation to charges Mr Slater from 2023, he assaulted and choked a woman who checked on his welfare at his Noosa Heads home on December 6, 2023.

Slater was then accused of breaking into a woman’s home at night on April 12 before he accosted her.

It’s further alleged Slater stalked a woman, which included sending about 300 messages calling her an “escort” and a “slut” and threatening suicide through voice messages.

His bail was refused in magistrates court when the allegations were first heard, and was most recently refused Supreme Court bail in August.
