Chevallum man charged with public nuisance after alleged fight outside Buderim Tavern

A young man has been charged and another ended up in hospital after a running race bet outside a popular Coast pub allegedly turned sour.

Three young men were confronted by police overnight after they allegedly started fighting outside a popular Coast venue.

Officers were called to the Buderim Tavern on Burnett Street just before midnight on Sunday.

Police say the three men, all 21, decided to have a running race in the parking lot of the venue, resulting in one man winning $50.

An argument over the race began which then became physical when the men allegedly started to fight.

One of the men was injured and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

No specific injuries were reported for the man.

A Chevallum man was arrested by police and taken to the Maroochydore watch house where he was charged with public nuisance in the vicinity of licensed premises.

He will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 16.
