A Nambour man accused of stealing a vehicle and being in possession of a firearm remains in custody after his court matter was adjourned.
Brant Maxwell Lleton Moore, 24, was arrested alongside a 23-year-old Pimpama woman after police tracked a stolen Toyota Corolla to a carpark near Poinciana Ave, Tewantin, on March 20, with the help of Polair.
Police allege the vehicle was stolen from a Nambour address on March 19 and was later observed travelling along the Bruce Hwy before officers found and arrested the pair.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a firearm, which was seized.
Moore has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, receiving tainted property, possessing counterfeit money, unlawful possession of weapons, and authority required to possess explosives. He is also facing a charge of breaching bail.
He was due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday via video link from the Maroochydore watch house, but the hearing was delayed after the prosecution indicated they wanted to amend one of the charges.
The prosecution opposed bail, while the defence contended they had only received the charges that morning and needed more time to prepare detailed submissions against the proposed amendment.
Moore’s lawyer said the amendment would have “significant consequences”, though it was unclear which charge was being altered.
The matter has been adjourned until Thursday, March 27.
