THE Caloundra Residents Association have wanted to make representations to have defibrillation kits compulsory in all public buildings.
We were motivated by a life being saved by such a kit last year and which is even more evident with the saving of Jill Lowry who collapsed at a gym a few days ago.
As a first step, we wrote to the council on October 5, 2018 asking a simple question - "What is council's policy on installation of defibrillation kits in public buildings?”.
We received no reply to our letter so we wrote again on November 11, 2018, restating our question and requesting an answer.
Again no reply, so on January 16, 2019, we addressed a personal letter to the CEO Michael Whittaker expressing our disappointment at the lack of reply and asking him to ensure that staff answered our letter.
As at this date four months later and three letters and we still have not had a reply, not even an acknowledgement.
One would assume that if the council does not have a policy, it would have been a simple task to reply and say so, rather wait in the hope that we will go away.
We will not go away and seek public support in forcing the council to answer the simple question.
