Ashes 2025: England team holidays in Noosa after two defeats
While most teams would be training harder after back-to-back losses, Adam Chenery went on the hunt for England’s cricketers who are heading to Queensland’s most exclusive resort town for relaxation.
Having played two and lost two, the England cricket team is one defeat away from Ashes failure in the quickest possible fashion.
In a five-test series, there’s no coming back from 3-0.
So, fresh from their latest humiliation, where might be best to find them?
In the nets? On the practice field? In the gym? Well no, apparently not.
For the next five days, England’s beleaguered cricketers are taking a mini-break. Some ‘me time’. A holiday in one of Queensland’s most beautiful and desirable resort towns, Noosa Heads.
Noosa’s residents are more than used to celebrity visitors.
Be they pop stars, movie stars, politicians or business leaders, the rich and the royal, many of the most famous people on the planet have chosen this stunning piece of the Sunshine Coast to relax in.
The world of sport is no different, and now fresh off the back of the British and Irish Lions stay in July and August, Noosa hosts an England cricket team looking for something to save its Ashes 2025/26 tour.
So what kind of welcome will they receive? Noosa Surf Club bartender and local legend, Matt ‘Dutchy’ Holland was happy with the buzz and boost to the economy the visit will bring, though he wasn’t shy of a cheeky dig at the suffering Poms side.
“We’re pretty chilled here, we’ll give ‘em a good welcome,” Matt said, before adding, “mind you it’ll be hard to spot them, the games have been so short, there’s only Stokes and Root that you recognize!‘
In Noosa Village, there were kind words and cautionary advice from Jen Gillard and Donna Maloney of men’s clothing boutique, Guzman.
Jen was quick to offer a fresh look for the England Team, “We’d love to have them visit us here, we’ll kit them out in something special,” while Donna saw two potential paths ahead, “There’s plenty of great activities here, and restaurants for those who choose a healthy lifestyle. Mind you, there’s lots of cocktail bars too!”
On the beach, the general consensus was that Noosa is super-relaxing, and if it’s a break from the stress of competition England needs, then they’ve come to the right place. The final word goes to the Magilton family, on holiday from Essex in England.
“We’d love to see them,” they said.
“It’ll be a nice bonus for our holiday.
“Maybe they’ll come to play some beach cricket - and win for a change!”
