Legions of punk rock fans have backed a new dive bar set to open on Duporth Ave later this month after residents raised concerns about how the venue could increase public nuisance problems.
Eleven Dive Bar is set to open its doors on June 11 and will operate five days a week at various hours, opening the earliest at 11am and closing the latest at 3am.
The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation had been contacted by a group of concerned residents about the venue's opening hours and noise impacts.
A mediation meeting was set down for Tuesday, June 1, for the venue owners to meet with those worried about how Duporth Ave was the wrong place for a punk rock venue.

But after the Sunshine Coast Daily asked its readers whether or not they thought the noise of the venue was unfair to the community, many backed the upcoming business.
Stuart Kerr said other nightclub venues in the area were more likely to attract violence and noise.
"As a long-term metal punk fan having attended hundreds of gigs of various genres, I can wholeheartedly say that this crowd that Eleven Dive Bar intends to bring out are some of the least-trouble making, nicest, most accepting and chilled out people you'll find out and about," Mr Kerr said.
Christian Tryhorn said "Grow up Sunny Coast".
"You'll find that heavy music crowds are much better behaved in general than most weekend crowds," he said.
And others agreed, with many punk rockers backing the live venue, especially after the impacts of Covid-19 on the music industry.
"Punks don't threaten your lifestyle, we enhance it and we bring positive change," Zenah Muller wrote.
"Your loss if you don't like us, we're actually pretty cool people."
Adele Harper said the venue was needed because fans of the genre had to travel to Brisbane for gigs.
Sarah Meharg said it was always at "generic bars and pubs" that patrons saw fights or experienced harassment.
"I invite anyone who has a differing opinion to come along to enjoy some beautiful music and meet wonderful people," she said.
Jessica Lawson said there were young adults "wrecking havoc" every weekend in the night life precinct.
"Eleven has created a place for different music taste to the mainstream music, everyone deserves a place they can go and express themselves," she said.
