More than 100 Sunshine Coast businesses, including restaurants and resorts, have been announced as finalists for prestigious business awards.

The Sunshine Coast Business Awards, now in their 29th year, have revealed which local businesses are in the running to take home the annual highly-coveted awards.

A total of 130 local businesses from across the region were named as finalists for the prestigious awards, which encompass 17 different categories, from tech to agriculture and education.

For accommodation services, the Glen Eden Beach Resort, Mercure Sunshine Coast Kawana Waters and The Point Coolum Beach were all named as finalists.

The Alex Surf Club, Bella Venezia and Spice Bar were among nine local hospitality venues to make it as finalists for 2024.

Sunshine Coast-based charities endED, Island Charity Swim and Reef Check Australia were also announced as finalists in the social impact category.

Sunshine Coast Business Awards chair Jennifer Swaine said entries for the 2024 awards included a large increase in businesses participating for the first time.

“Each year the bar is raised in terms of entries and we continue to see businesses leverage their participation in the awards to promote and enhance their organisations which is fantastic to see,” Ms Swaine said.

“Small business is the backbone of Queensland and here on the Sunshine Coast, we are home to a thriving and entrepreneurial business community.

“The awards are about recognising the positive impact of small to medium businesses on the Coast and the role they play economically, socially and environmentally so we can create a better future for the kids who call the Sunshine Coast home.”

The Sunshine Coast Business Awards will be held on Friday, November 9, at a Gala Dinner.
