KX Pilates studio owner Elle Kendell opens business in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast

A woman has left her old life behind to embark on a new career path and open a new pilates studio on the Sunshine Coast.

Elle Kendell packed up her belongings, bought a one-way ticket to the Sunshine Coast and left her life behind to chase her business dreams.

The 34-year-old said leaving Adelaide was daunting but she knew the Coast was the perfect place for her new venture, KX pilates.

The reformer pilates franchise operates at 75 locations around Australia, now including Brisbane Road in Mooloolaba.

“I had visited the Sunshine Coast quite a few times over the years and had always just loved the vibe,” Ms Kendell said.

“I would always look around and see how people were so fit, always walking and running.

“When I made the decision to … come to the Coast it was just always going to be Mooloolaba.”

Elle Kendell is the new studio owner of KX pilates Mooloolaba.

KX pilates offers high intensity, dynamic workouts based on the Japanese philosophy of kaizen (continuous improvement).

“It’s a little bit more cardio-based than what other studios are,” Ms Kendell said.

“We have dumbbells, weighted poles that we use throughout so we’re always being creative.”

She said clients didn’t have to be pilates experts to give it a go.

“People are always really intimidated when they hear the word pilates and then reformer pilates but it’s definitely my mission to make it a warm environment for all,” she said.

KX pilates Mooloolaba is now open on Brisbane Road.

The studio opened on June 26 and already has a loyal following despite a three-day lockdown crashing her party.

“People are absolutely loving it, which is amazing,” Ms Kendell said.

“Because so many people from interstate have moved up they are aware of the brand and are really excited that they can come into the studio.

“Others were just excited to try something new and I’ve already got people addicted to it and it’s only been (just over) a week.”
