Woman taken to hospital in serious condition following gas cylinder explosion on Noosa River

A woman has been taken to hospital suffering from significant burns to her face following a gas explosion on a boat on the Noosa River.

A woman has been taken to hospital with serious burns after emergency services said a gas cylinder exploded on a boat on the Noosa River Saturday morning.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said crews were called to the end of Claude Batten Dr in Noosa Heads at 10.56am, where they boarded the vessel and treated a woman with “significant facial burns”.

The woman was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Birtinya in a serious condition.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) spokeswoman said fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze and release the remaining gas from the cylinder.
