An alleged bikie has been accused of concealing a gun down his pants at a Sunshine Coast home just days after he received bail for allegedly possessing 40g of meth and thousands of dollars in cash.

Dion Francis Spizzirri, 42 appeared on video in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on January 25 as defence lawyer Nathan Hounsell applied for bail on his behalf.

Mr Spizzirri has been charged with eight offences including possessing a weapon and drugs after police found him at a Sunshine Coast home allegedly hiding away a gun from officers by shoving the firearm down his pants on January 18.

Police previously said in a press release last year Spizzirri was a member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang, however this was not confirmed in open court.

Mr Hounsell told the court Mr Spizzirri had been visiting his friend and fell asleep before police arrived and discovered him with the firearm.

“When police entered the room, he made a snap decision to conceal it,” he said.

Mr Hounsell will be seeking disclosure of body-worn camera footage to confirm some of the allegations, he said.

His client had been struggling with drugs for a lengthy time and had also recently been suffering from mental health issues, Mr Hounsell said.

The court heard he was given bail on January 12 for matters before Beenleigh Magistrates Court after he was allegedly caught inside a vehicle with stolen registration plates, 40g of meth, $10,000 in cash and ammunition and obstructed police during his arrest

The matter will next be heard before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 14.

Police prosecutor Jeanette Grigoris said Mr Spizzirri had also been on probation and a suspended sentence at the time, and had recently completed a period of parole when he was arrested and charged over his most recent alleged offences.

Ms Grigoris accepted Mr Spizzirri had been visiting a friend as his bail address was listed as the Gold Coast.

Mr Spizzirri has been charged with four counts of possessing drugs, one of possessing a weapon, one of possessing ammo, one of possessing a pipe used for smoking drugs and one of possessing property used in a drug offence.

He has not entered any pleas and has been remanded in custody.

Acting magistrate Raelene Ellis denied bail due to the “significant” risk of reoffending and set the matter for mention on February 15.
