Talented Gympie artist Cathy Condon, the founder and creative director of fashion brand WildMary Gold, will have her work showcased in prestigious Vanity Fair and Tatler magazines for the November issue.
The brand is the only Australian designer in Vanity Fair’s November 2024 issue and will be featured in the Lookbook, a collection of different outfits, styles, and fashion concepts for fashion enthusiasts to draw inspiration from.
A second acclaimed magazine that will exhibit Cathy’s talents will be Britain’s Tatler magazine, which will feature her as an “emerging designer to watch”.
In the WildMary Gold social profile, Cathy said that as a visual artist, curator and art therapist, she understood the impact art could have on a person’s emotions and wellbeing and that she wanted to channel her expertise into a clothing line that went “beyond mere aesthetics”.
She said her WildMary Gold collections were inspired by her own vibrant oil paintings, which were influenced by Australia’s landscape, mythology, history, relationships, family, love and spirituality.
Shoppers on the site are encouraged to experience and embrace the “healing power” and “transformative energy” of the garments, and to “let it guide you on your journey towards self-discovery and healing”.
It states the brand responsibly sources luxury materials and creates its collections with ethically sourced fabrics, sustainable printing, and principled manufacturing practices with “the environment at the forefront of our thinking”.
Each collection is limited, created in small quantities as collector’s items, and, never-to-be-repeated. The clothing is “carefully crafted with love and intention” that includes “artwork that has the ability to heal, uplift and transform energy”.
After being awarded an artist in residency in 2018 at the Eileen Kaminsky Family Foundation at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City USA, Cathy returned to Australia when the Covid lockdown began in 2020, and now lives in the Mary Valley, south of Gympie.
Her website says Cathy still spends lots of time in New York, the birthplace of WildMary Gold, and visits Europe regularly for her creative endeavours.
