A Sunshine Coast man has been refused bail after he was allegedly busted with a large amount of drugs, just one month after being placed on probation.

Father-of-one, Connor James Avery, 20, appeared on videolink from the watch house in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.

Mr Avery made an application for bail while facing seven charges including three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the drugs misuse act, authority required to possess explosives and possessing property suspected of being used in connection to drug offending.

He was also charged with possessing a schedule one dangerous drug, exceeding schedule three but less than schedule four.

Solicitor Bernard Bradley told the court the 20-year-old was willing to adhere to a curfew if bail was to be granted.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Simon Evans told the court Mr Avery had previously been sentenced for an assault occasioning bodily harm and was placed on probation last month.

“His adult history begins 18 months ago with a schedule drug matter and he received the benefit of a fine in regards to that,” Senior Constable Evans said.

“More concerningly, this year the last finalised entry being assault occasioning bodily harm that is at April 15.”

Magistrate Janelle Boegheim told the court police searched Mr Avery’s share house and found clip seal bags, ammunition, fireworks and various illicit drugs, including 205g of MDMA.

“They arise after a search warrant was executed on September 18 at the defendant's premises, in relation to a share house with multiple occupants renting separate rooms,” Ms Boegheim said.

“It was said the defendant initially directed police to another room which later turned out not be his, in the second bedroom (police found) six bags containing MDMA to a total weight of 205 grams, one clip seal bag containing cannabis of nine grams, a Samsung mobile phone, $1300 in cash, new and unused clip seal bags, a set of scales, notepads, one clip seal bag containing a large quantity unused capsules.

“Three rounds 0.223 caliber ammunition, another small box containing a quantity of fireworks was found, also a small bag of ketamine, aluminium foil containing LSD, clip seal containing cannabis and seven cannabis seeds.”

Ms Boegheim told the court the evidence “appeared to be strong”.

Ultimately, Mr Avery was refused bail.

He is expected to appear back before the magistrates court on December 8.
