A Sunshine Coast beach will soon have its own surf lifesaving club after years of community angst over lifeguard services.
Bokarina residents had been pleading for the installation of a lifeguard service on the "dangerous" 9km stretch since a new beach access was opened to connect to a Stockland residential development in August 2019.
The Bokarina Beach lifeguard tower opened last year however the area is only staffed on weekends, public holidays and Queensland school holidays from September to May.
But Surf Life Saving Queensland has now applied to Sunshine Coast Council for approval to build an interim club house and storage facility on Bokarina Boulevard.

The proposal shows a small building on the 5003sq m site which will form stage one of the overall development.
Surf Life Saving Queensland hopes to have a club built at the site by September 2023.
Its development application said the building would fulfil an immediate need for basic beach monitoring and lifesaving operations on Bokarina Beach.
Surf Life Saving Queensland will use the building for storing emergency response equipment, including jet skis and other rescue vehicles, as well as first aid and flotation device supplies while a design for a full-scale club is prepared.
The development will provide three carparking spaces, which includes two spaces within the storage facility and a space within an outdoor carport.
In a letter dated March 18, the council mentioned several key issues which required addressing before the application could proceed.
Issues included landscaping, stormwater discharge and vehicle turning paths.
The council also raised a concern regarding future development requesting information on how the building had been designed in consideration with the stages to come.
Surf Life Saving Queensland has until June 18 this year to respond to the council's request.
