The Sunshine Coast Council recently published this report, which presents a selection of building and development statistics illustrating trends compared to previous years and details of significant developments.
The report documents local development activity that took place during the last financial year and demonstrates that development on the Coast continued to increase.
The figures show Sunshine Coast building approvals are at their highest level in seven years, with council issuing $1.29billion of approvals in the 2015/16 financial year.
For the second consecutive financial year, the council has recorded building approvals with a value in excess of $1 billion.
In 2015/16 there were also over 40,000 development enquiries, 14,600 development applications and nearly 3000 new lots created.
Steady and sustainable growth in development over the longer term has positive flow-on effects that contribute to increased economic activity across the region, including employment generation, business confidence and consumer spending
