A Sunshine Coast business is tapping into a booming fax industry overseas. Find out why what’s considered outdated tech is flying in the US.

A Sunshine Coast technology company is tapping into the United States to capitalise on a booming fax industry within the healthcare system.

Founded in 2001, GoLogic Group is a communications software company headquartered on Ocean St, Maroochydore, helping secure and modernise fax and text messaging channels for businesses and users.

GoLogic chief executive Bradley Davis said his team was soft launching in Salt Lake City, United States later this month to help capitalise on a growing fax industry within the country’s giant healthcare system.

The company planned to tackle the healthcare sector by offering a unique piece of communication software, Notifyre, which will help transition the sector away from error-prone fax machines to safe and verified digital messaging.

Mr Davis, who co-founded the product in 2019, said he expected the product to have a “big uptake” in the country where the fax industry was about 10 times bigger than in Australia.

“It represents a huge market for us,” he said.

While fax machines might seem old-school, Mr Davis said they were still common in the healthcare industry because it was secure, users got proof of delivery, and it met the healthcare industry’s regulatory requirements.

“It is an industry that is growing, which is also surprising to a lot of people,” he said.

He said fax machines were increasing in demand as the healthcare industry naturally got bigger, alongside population growth.

If his global move takes off, Mr Davis said his team will also look to expand on the Sunshine Coast.
