A popular breakfast to launch the Sunshine Coast Business Awards is nearly sold out, organisers say.

The Small Business Month breakfast, to be held on May 20 under the motto Bounce Back Better, attracts small business professionals from across the Coast each time it is held.

Hosted by the Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance, the event marks the official opening of entries for the 2021 Sunshine Coast Business Awards.

Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance vice chair and Business Awards chair Jennifer Swaine said the 250 tickets available for the event were selling fast.

Sunshine Coast Council head of economic development Andrew Eves-Brown will interview previous awards winners, including Australian chef, restaurateur and media personality Peter Kuruvita, Nicki Farrell from Wildlings Forest School, Naomi Elliot from Concept Labs and Brigid Woolnough from Kokopod.

"The event will also provide the opportunity to hear of the initiatives of the Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance, Sunshine Coast Council and Noosa Council in supporting our business community," Mrs Swaine said.

Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast chief executive Paul Fisher will MC the event.

Other attendees include Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson, Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance chair Wallis Westbrook and Damien Glanville, whose company LPE has become the first naming sponsor in the Sunshine Coast Business Awards' 26-year history.

Mrs Swaine said the breakfast would also help small businesses to "bounce back" with many still dealing with the challenges created by COVID-19 and celebrate the success stories that have emerged from the pandemic.

"The opening of entries to the Sunshine Coast Business Awards will also celebrate the successes businesses have had, whether it be responding and adapting as a result of the pandemic, or simply maintaining and growing their business in one of the most challenging business and economic environments in living memory," Mrs Swaine said.
