When you take a close look at business on the Sunshine Coast you quickly realise that small business is the backbone of our region. Across both LGA’s we have close to 40,000 small businesses of which 25,000 are sole traders.

And when you look even closer you learn that the Sunshine Coast has a thriving ecosystem of savvy entrepreneurs, many of whom are achieving success and recognition not just in Australia but all over the world.

For this reason, it is so important to acknowledge the talent we have in this region and highlight and celebrate their achievements.

Now in their 26th year, the Sunshine Coast Business Awards ensures our outstanding local businesses get a chance to tell their story and are recognised across the region for the work they are doing.

And this year is shaping up to be one of our best years yet with applications now starting to flow in.

The awards were launched in May and were due to close at 5pm on Friday, August 27.

However, the impact the recent lockdowns have had on many of our small businesses has left them a little short on time and for this reason we felt that it was only fair to give everyone an additional weekend to complete or update their application.

Applications for the Sunshine Coast Business Awards will now close at 5pm on Monday, August 30.

Finalists will be announced on September 24 and the winners will be named at a gala held at the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre on November 13.

The Sunshine Coast Business Awards are an important platform for the local business community to be recognised and celebrated but we don’t need to wait until then to acknowledge great local businesses.

Let them know you think they are great by telling them and encouraging them to get their application in before the 30th!
