Their business isn’t even a year old and already two Sunshine Coast entrepreneurs are looking to expand.

Ami Bateman teamed up with Sian Murray to launch Pleasant State in March last year and since then the duo has gone from strength to strength.

The pair worked closely with a chemist to come up with an active ingredient, dissolvable cleaning solution that was responsibly-sourced, vegan and cruelty-free, allergy-friendly and free of single-use plastics.

Pleasant State now boasts three different sprays, coming a long way from June when they launched their first multipurpose spray and hand-rolled 100 kits to send out for customers to test.

“It’s been an incredible 12 months for us, we had the idea in March last year and so much has happened since then,” Ms Murray said.

“We’ve just been blown away by the uptake and the response, the crowd-funding and how much the community has gotten around it

“It’s so exciting, so surreal.”

Ms Bateman said it was full steam ahead now as they prepared to roll out their product.

“We’ve got 1300 full kits packed with bottles and the towels and we’re just waiting on the bars to be delivered from our Gympie manufacturer,” she said.

“On June 1, Pleasant State launched its brand on social media and in August we launched the crowd funding campaign and since then we’re super excited about the progress we’ve made.

“Through the crowd funding campaign we raised over $87,000 in pre-orders which is about 1500 customers.”

Ms Bateman said Pleasant State had also put pen to paper on an expansion deal.

“We signed a partnership deal which will also see an additional 6000 units of our multipurpose starter kit hitting Australian homes in March,” Ms Bateman said.

“So all up that’s taken our pre-order revenue raised to over $100,000 raised in a five month period.

“When I actually have an opportunity to stop and reflect I guess I’d pinch myself.”

Ms Bateman said their ambitions don’t just stop on Aussie soil.

“It can often be a little bit hard to just stop and take a pause and celebrate given how much more we have to go,” she said.

“From the get-go we’ve had international ambition, we’re quite keen to take Australian products to the world.”
