A popular intravenous drip clinic which turned over more than $1m in Melbourne last year has opened its first Sunshine Coast centre offering inner health and hangover cures.

Queensland health minister warns against COVID complacency

A popular intravenous vitamin (IV) practice has opened its first clinic on the Sunshine Coast offering inner health and hangover drips.

Jasmine Leggatt founded Coastal Aesthetic Injectables in Victoria seven years ago and moved up to the Sunshine Coast permanently late last year to open her second centre.

Ms Leggatt’s new, larger Maroochydore clinic offers her full range of IV drips touted to provide benefits for the immune system, skin, muscle repair, gut health, and even hangover cures.

Clients are required to fill out a brief questionnaire and are guided through which drips are better suited for their needs before being hooked up to a drip for about an hour with only one dose needed a month.

Intravenous vitamin treatments have been popular in major cities globally for several years and have begun to catch on in the country’s smaller capitals and larger regional areas.

Ms Leggatt said the increase in popularity of IV treatments followed a growing body of new evidence-based research over the past two years which has shown the treatments to provide a number of health benefits for users.

“Vitamin B works on cognitive repair, reduces stress, anxiety and depression and vitamin C is good for boosting the immune system, healthy skin complexion,” Ms Leggatt said.

“It also helps if people are unwell or immunocompromised or want a healthier skin tone. Magnesium is good for relaxing, calming nerves and can help with anxiety as well as muscle recovery and regulating metabolism.”

Since opening in December, the business has served 25 clients a week on average and aims to more than double its patronage by the end of the year.

Ms Leggatt’s clinic in Melbourne’s south has a turnover of more than $1m a year and she hoped to achieve similar or higher figures long term with her Maroochydore site.

Her practice also does a variety of cosmetic surgery treatments including anti-wrinkle, lip enhancements and skin needling.

Ms Leggatt said the Sunshine Coast’s healthy lifestyle culture made it an attractive location to establish and grow her business.

“There’s so much potential, everyone is into health and wellness, so anything they can do to improve their health and energy levels they’re really into,” Ms Leggatt said.

“I’ve got people here who are surfers and gym goers who push themselves so for people who are active like that we’ve got a cocktail [drip] called the powerhouse which stimulates muscle recovery and other drips that help with energy levels, hydration and things like that.

“There’s a lot of people here with holistic and health businesses too and so the word also spreads among them about what we’re doing.”
