CENTURY 21, a real estate organisation with over 100,000 staff in 78 countries, has announced that Queensland agent Damien Said has placed within the top 25 real estate agents worldwide.

Damien Said was recognised as the top agent in Century 21's Australasian network for 2016 for revenue from sales and he was ranked 21st out of around 100,000 agents across Century 21's global network at the organisation's Annual Global Conference held in Las Vegas, USA, earlier this year.

With more than 20 years of real estate experience, Damien Said owns and operates Century 21 on Duporth in Maroochydore, Queensland, which also secured the position of number one office in the Century 21 Australasian network in 2016.

Speaking of his start in the industry, Damien Said said, "I arrived in Maroochydore after finishing university and went around to a few local real estate offices in the area with long dreadlocks and no suit looking for a job.

"I was turned away but I went back to one office the next day without the dreadlocks and with a suit on and I got a start in real estate."

"It's a bit of a catchphrase but commitment to your clients is the key to real estate success in my books. Real estate is a 'people' business and to survive and succeed, you must be a good communicator and go above and beyond for your clients," said Damien Said.

"I'd like to thank my team for all their hard work on the Sunshine Coast and also Century 21 for the local and global recognition.

There aren't many real estate networks that allow you to travel the world and be judged and awarded on a global scale," said Damien Said.

According to the latest CoreLogic data from May, Brisbane dwelling values were up 1.2% for the quarter, and 2.3% for 2016.

CoreLogic also reports that the Sunshine Coast experienced the second highest rate of net internal migration over 2015-2016, suggesting that sea changes to the area are gathering pace.

Damien Said believes that 2017 may also hold promising prospects for the Sunshine Coast market with major planned infrastructure investments in the works such as the two billion dollar health hub developments, Sunshine Coast airport upgrade and the expansion of the Maroochydore CBD.

Charles Tarbey, Chairman and Owner of Century 21 Australasia, believes that Damien's achievement is an admirable one considering the scale of the global Century 21 network:

"Not many agents can say they are amongst the world's best so I congratulate Damien on the dedication that has led him to be recognised as such ," said Charles Tarbey.

"The real estate industry is a competitive one and is facing new challenges, from disruption to changing market conditions, however, Damien embodies the qualities of an agent who is fit to succeed in markets of all types," said Charles Tarbey.

With more than 3000 offices, Century 21 is the largest real estate sales organisation in the Asia Pacific region, a region vital to Australia's continued economic success.
