23-unit apartment complex proposed for Golden Beach neighbourhood

A proposal to build a set of 23 units in a coastal neighbourhood on the Sunshine Coast has been placed before council.

A beachside suburb on the Sunshine Coast could be home to a brand spanking new set of residential units if council give the green light.

Project Urban lodged a development application with Sunshine Coast Council on behalf of Centro Concepts to build a set of 23 units at Golden Beach.

Application documents show the two lots at 27 and 29 Taylor Ave, Golden Beach would be transformed into a five-storey apartment complex if plans are approved.

The 1214sq m site currently holds two houses situated in a medium density residential zone in close proximity to the Esplanade and within walking distance to schools and other public open spaces.

Floorplans show between one and three-bedroom units will be offered, each with an adjoining 12sq m or larger private balcony.

The complex will also offer a pool, gym and seating area for residents, documents show.

The proposal includes two basement levels encompassing 38 parking spaces.

Documents reveal the site is surrounded by other residential complexes to the north, south and east alongside a dwelling house.

The development will have a maximum height of 15m.

The complex has been described in documents to enhance the suburb’s “coastal urban character” using a mix of lighter weight and textured building materials, glass balustrades and landscaping.

“The design also deliberately provides a large number of corner apartments which will assist with cross ventilation,” documents state.
