Queensland voters have indicated they are ready for a major shift in power, with an exclusive Courier-Mail exit poll showing Labor is in for a devastating election day on October 26, with many readers celebrating the news.

The poll of 1000 early voters around Queensland reveals the LNP primary vote has soared, while Labor’s has dropped significantly.

Across the 10 electorates where voters were canvassed, the LNP’s primary vote is at 48.2 per cent compared with Labor’s 30 per cent, the Greens’ 9.4 per cent and One Nation at 7.4 per cent.

In worrying signs for Premier Steven Miles, pre-poll results were almost identical to the final primary vote in the 2020 election.

.

Following publication of this week’s poll, readers voiced their opinions by the hundred, with many celebrating the potential change in government, while some singled out individuals for their roles in shaping the lead-up to next week’s election.

BYE BYE LABOR

Kerry – In the last 4 years everyone in Townsville has been a victim of crime or knows someone who has. Similarly, everyone who drives in Townsville has seen stolen cars ripping around the streets. Labor really thought we were so shallow as to overlook that for a free lunch.

Jacqueline – Have voted for Labor for 30 years. Not this time around that’s for sure – state and Federal – just clueless

Integrity inferno – Bye Bye Labor. You made your bed, now sleep in it.

Glenda – Looks like the train is leaving the station, let’s wave goodbye as we leave Labor behind. See-ya.

Mark – All the government responsibilities have gone backwards under Labor. They can’t even keep the community safe anymore. They deserve to be booted out at this election.

Stephen – I saw it at prepoll yesterday in cairns. Definitely the swing is on in NQ.

The Ibis – Not before time either.

Keeping the Whigs Honest – Miles will be conceding defeat very early on election night – should occur by 8.30pm…

David – Voters are going early to the polls, they have already made their minds up. Free lunches, government servos and energy companies are not going to save this Government.

Phil – $1.4B on sandwiches not police, nurses or teachers that really sums up this Labor Govt. adios to them !

Susan – I live in one of the electorates mentioned in this article and is currently in Alp hands. Hopefully the current trend will continue. Certainly the LNP party workers were a lot more buoyant and cheerful than the few Alp reps present. It was great to see.

FINGERS POINT AT INDIVIDUALS

Mark – Anastasia Palaszczuk saw the writing on the wall. She never cared about Queensland, just her legacy.

Ross – Replacing Palaszczuk with Miles is like messing your pants and changing your shirt.

Valerie – A Labor loss is down to Anna. She did the damage and ran off without a backward glance . Labor can’t come back from the damage she inflicted during covid.

James – If Healey (ALP) in Cairns is re-elected it would be unbelievable given crime issues , health department issues etc etc in that area. The LNP nominee was the wrong person but anything is better than the current member who is missing in action.

Steven – The Liberal bloke ain’t much better. Nothing will change

Hoppy – Voted early, at city hall. Blue how to vote cards every where. Let’s hope my vote gets rid of Grace

Panther – The time has come for the failed Minister Scanlon to go. Hopefully, a new government with a new Housing Minister will stop spending billions of dollars on overpriced modular boxes and will incentivise private affordable housing.

Jack – Mick De Brenni deserves to lose his seat in a landslide... He’s completely incompetent.

Out of Thyme – Let’s hope Bart Mellish is finished in Aspley! I was more than happy to vote at 8am on Monday and was a little late to work.

DON’T WRITE THEM OFF YET

Brizzy Engineer – These headlines could be self-defeating for the LNP. Voters don’t want a whitewash and some may swing back to Labor to avoid that.

Paul – Never underestimate the power of Unions and Labor. Misinformation will ramp up, and the Labor voters will come out late.

I’m Left but I’m always Right – Every crisis that we hear about has been created all over the world post Covid. All the LNP has done is saturate the air waves into making everyone think it’s only happened here in Qld. Essentially you have been conned.

thedaily – 1,000 people do not speak for millions.

Sophie – The LNP will lose votes because of the controversy over its abortion policy. Crisafulli can say he won’t change the law til he’s blue in the face but the damage is done. And hasn’t Labor taken advantage of the difference of opinion in LNP ranks!!!

Ian and Judith – Could the pre-poll votes be skewed as fewer fulltime workers will have been able to get to early voting centres? Whereas possibly for more conservative older retired voters it’s easier.
