Labor MP’s Les Walker and Scott Stewart call out the LNP, as Jarrod Bleijie calls them ‘desperate’

Townsville MPs, have whipped out the props in their fight to stay in power, showcasing two long lists full of what they claim will be cut if the LNP is elected and the Opposition have responded.

Armed with two long lists full of what they say will be cut if the LNP is elected, Member for Townsville Scott Stewart and Member for Mundingburra Les Walker on Wednesday called out Opposition Leader David Crisafulli, with Mr Walker saying ‘dodgy Dave” hasn’t given enough details on how the party will fund their election promises.

“He has not given any decent commitment with the health system, our education, our nurses, our doctors and our police,” he said.

Unveiling their long list of projects they say will be cut, including CopperString, free TAFE and the expansion of the Townsville Hospital among others, Mr Walker labelled Mr Crisafulli as ‘arrogant’.

“This is a guy that wants to be the premier and he's making out that he’s already got it in the bag. Very, very arrogant,” Mr Walker said.

“We’ve given the figures, we’ve given the budget, we’ve given our plan. Dodgy Dave, still hasn’t given us the details.”

Member for Townsville Scott Stewart said the people of Queensland wanted to know how the opposition was going to pay for the $18.3 billion they have promised.

“He can’t tell us, three days out from election,” he said.

“That means one thing, he’s just going to have to cut and he’s going to cut projects.”

Also in Townsville on Wednesday, Deputy Opposition Leader Jarrod Bleijie called out the Labor MP’s for their ‘desperate attack’.

“It just shows the extent of the desperation campaign and the scaremongering they’re going to do in the community. It’s completely not true, it’s lies, it’s fabrications. They’re falsehoods and fantasies,” he said.

“That’s all the Labor Party have got. The Labor Party talk about CopperString. The LNP was on the record supporting CopperString well before the Labor Party. They can’t talk about youth crime because they don’t have a plan.”

When asked how the $18 billion worth of campaign promises from the LNP will be funded, Mr Bleijie said the commitments have been fully costed in every commitment that they have announced.

“That figure is from Cameron Dick,” he said.

“We are still making announcements and a full campaign costing will be shown once all those announcement have been made. But every announcement we have made has had a costings attached to it.”
