Winner for the seat of Morayfield revealed here is what it means for you

Mark Ryan, Thersea Craig and Amy Smith went head to head for the seat of Morayfield. Here’s who came out on top and what it means for people in Caboolture and surrounds.

Police Minister Mark Ryan has been re-elected to the seat of Morayfield after Labor came out on top with a whopping 54.20 per cent over LNP’s Teresa Craig over at 18.23 per cent.

Mr Ryan, ALP, has held the seat since 2015. He previously represented the electorate from 2009 -2012.

The seat covers Caboolture South, Morayfield and parts of Burpengary.

The key election issues that decided the vote were infrastructure, health and education.

Here is what it means for you:

Emergency services/Health

If Labor is re-elected it has promised to build a $4 million Ambulance Station in Morayfield.

It has also promised $35 million for a new satellite hospital in the region

The $400 million redevelopment of Caboolture Hospital is also progressing

An extra 150 police officers for the North Coast Police Region (which includes Caboolture)

Schools

Morayfield East State School will get a fencing upgrade if Labor is re-elected

Morayfield State High School will get a new school hall

A new joint school hall for Caboolture State High School and Lee St State Special School

Labor has also promised $300,000 towards a new OSHC service at Caboolture East State School

Airconditioning every state school classroom

Across Queensland, 6,190 new teachers and more than 1,100 new teacher aides

Free TAFE and free apprenticeships for under 25s

Infrastructure

Labor has pledged $5 million towards a new Caboolture PCYC – $4 million for building and $1 million for the land). This adds to a $2.5m commitment from Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Caboolture touch football/rugby league will get a $1 million clubhouse

Labor has promised $250,000 for new lighting and other upgrades at Caboolture Hockey

$29 million has been set aside by Labor for accessibility upgrades at Burpengary Train Station

More than $800 million in upgrades for the Bruce Highway in our area, including a new overpass bridge at Deception Bay Road
