The Groove ‘n’ Grill diner may only be less than a year old, but it’s already making waves in the state’s culinary scene after their American-inspired burgers were named among the best in the state.

Formerly known as the Blue Topaz Diner, the newly-established diner has built on its success and has taken out a top five place in the recent Delicious 100 awards.

Stanthorpe’s burger gem ate its way to earning fifth place in Queensland’s ‘best burger’ category, and owners Shonel and Brendan Roberts couldn’t be more humble or proud.

“We’re very rapt to have gotten fifth place and that our little old diner was even nominated,” Mrs Elliott-Roberts said.

“Thank you to those who nominated us and to those who voted, we’re very grateful.”

Officially opening during the busy weekend of this year’s Snowflakes in Stanthorpe festival, the diner has continued to attract many hungry customers.

Brendan and Shonel Roberts have transformed the former Blue Topaz diner into the award-winning Groove 'n' Grill diner.

The unique atmosphere of the diner with its rockabilly features offers more than just American style burgers, with a menu keeping hungry customers full from breakfast to lunch and dinner.

Mrs Elliott-Roberts said the sheer size and consistency of their burgers was just one of many features that attracted and kept their customers returning.

“We also offer gluten free and vegetarian options as well, and we’ve recently just put out a new vegetarian burger with portobello mushrooms that’s doing quite well,” she said.

The diner also has on offer its own unique blend of special sauces which are crafted in store, giving customers the ultimate stomach grumbling, mouth watering sensation.

Crafting delicious burgers and sauces aren’t the only talents up Shonel and Brendan’s sleeve, who also smoke their own meats in house which creates a distinct taste.

Mrs Elliott-Roberts said their most popular burger has stayed consistent from the Blue Topaz days, with the newly renamed ‘classic OG’ at the top of the order list.

“We also find our fried chicken selections are quite popular, as well as our Little Richard burger which is a take on your classic cheeseburger,” she said.

The recent addition of their online ordering system has only given customers a greater reason to sink their teeth into one of their many delights.

Mrs Elliott-Roberts said both the online ordering system and newly established breakfast menu have been equal in their success.

“The online ordering system just makes it really easy for customers to skip the queue and for us when we’re really busy (inside the diner),” she said.

“The brekky menu has been doing really well and I think it’s also because it offers not your standard type of breakfast menu and there’s options other than the burgers on there.”

Coming off the back of their recent Delicious 100 success, Shonel and Brendan have a couple of exciting new releases in the works which may stray slightly from burgers.
