STANTHORPE parkrun celebrated its fourth birthday on Saturday, with 77 runners and walkers attending.

Participants from all over, including Stanthorpe, Highfields, Warwick, Brisbane and the coast, turned up to join the celebrations.

"Special guests included Ian Wickham, parkrun event ambassador, along with the Warwick parkrun event team who offered their time to volunteer, and also Kirsten Ellis who set up Stanthorpe parkrun four years ago,” a local parkrun representative said.

"Parkrun has changed the lives of many people across Australia, and in Stanthorpe it's no different. Over the past 12 months participants have collectively completed the course 3291 times at the local event.”

Kirsty Irwin picked up an award for her dedication, as well as a separate nod for achieving the most personal bests throughout the year with 13.

"After Saturday's run, participants enjoyed some delicious birthday cake donated by Vixens Bakery Cafe, along with great coffee from the Piccolo Coffee Van,” the representative said.

Stanthorpe parkrun happens at Talc St every Saturday at 7am and anyone who would like to give it a go can register at www.parkrun.com.au or email stanthorpeoffice@ parkrun.com.au.
