Mum dies in horrific highway smash, daughters left injured
A TENTERFIELD woman, 20, is in a critical but stable condition after being involved in a serious car crash on the New England Highway Saturday afternoon.

A TENTERFIELD woman, 20, is in a critical but stable condition in the Princess Alexandra Hospital after being involved in a serious car crash on the New England Highway that claimed the life of her mother and left her 25-year-old sister injured on Saturday afternoon.
A Stanthorpe Police spokesman, who was at the scene of the crash at the intersection of Whiskey Gully Road and the New England Highway, said the Tenterfield family did nothing wrong.
"It was a three-vehicle crash," he said.
"A woman in a Toyota was (allegedly) driving on the wrong side of the road and the family from Tenterfield crashed into the side of her car after attempting to swerve and avoid hitting her.
"The third car then crashed into the other two cars."
The 20-year-old was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with extensive injuries.
The police spokesman said he helped pull her from the car.
"She is phenomenally brave," he said.
The 25-year-old sister was released from Toowoomba Hospital on Monday February 3.
The driver of the Toyota, a 37-year-old Victorian woman, who was not injured in the crash, was charged yesterday with disqualified driving and dangerous driving causing death and grievous bodily harm.
She is due to appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court on Tuesday February 4.
Many crashes have occurred at the same intersection and the police spokesman said it came down to people ignoring the signs.
"The problem is that it is a national road used by people who don't really pay attention to all the signs."
The speed limit at the intersection has recently been reduced to 80kph, and the spokesman said he did not think reducing it further would make much difference.
Police are yet to release the names of those involved in the crash.
