Gemma Osbaldeston from Cuts ‘n Curls has been crowned Stanthorpe’s best hairdresser.

Having purchased her salon just 18 months ago after returning to her hometown of Stanthorpe, Gemma said she was extremely grateful to her clients and amazing staff to be recognised for her hard work.

Gemma said she always wanted to own her own hairdressing salon and be a hairdresser, leaving school in Year 10 to pursue her dreams.

“I’ve always enjoyed making people feel good about themselves and doing different things with hair,” she said.

The now 23-year-old said she started a hairdressing apprenticeship at 13 and found the art of hairdressing to come naturally to her.

“I love it all, but I absolutely love the finished product,” she said.

Gemma had the passion from a young age, with her mother Wendy Osbaldeston recalling Gemma enjoyed doing her pet horse’s hair as a child.

“I’m pretty proud and happy for her, I think she can go a long way,” she said.

Wendy said she has seen her daughter’s confidence grow during the past 18 months of owning her own salon.

“I think the experience has made her grow up more and mature,” she said.
