Dozens of adorable pups were in the running for the title of Stanthorpe’s cutest dog for 2021, and with the final votes tallied it’s time to reveal the winner.
Taffy the Jack Russell puppy took out the competition with 13 per cent of reader votes, followed by Snacky the chihuahua and Zadie the border collie with 9 per cent each.
Owner Jo Vetter said she was pleasantly surprised when she found out her mischievous 10-month-old pup was the winner.
“She’s a beautiful-looking little puppy. I guess everybody thinks their puppy is the most beautiful, and there were some beautiful little dogs in there, so it’s just lovely,” she said.
“I had another Jack Russell who was 14 years old, and I lost her in December through age and illness. I swore I’d never get another one, but I’m such a dog lover and it breaks your heart when you lose them.
“I heard about these little pups being available and I thought I’d get some company for my other dog (Remi). She’s a sweet little dog and I just love her.”
Ms Vetter said little Taffy was social and energetic, and loved to play with other dogs in the neighbourhood or dig around in the garden.
These were the other dogs that finished in the top 5 rankings:
#2 - Snacky the chihuahua
#3 - Sadie the border collie
#4 - Eda the dalmatian
#5 - Zulee the Shoodle
